Dreier Statement on Passing of Congressman Tom Lantos

February 11, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA), Leader of the California Republican Congressional Delegation, issued the following statement today on the passing of Congressman Tom Lantos (D-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee:

“Few people have lived a more challenging and interesting life than Tom Lantos.  Courageous does not begin to describe a man like Tom.  His experiences during the Holocaust made him a strong and respected voice for human rights and freedom, and this country benefited greatly from his wisdom and experiences.  Tom was a fellow Californian, a neighbor on Capitol Hill, and great personal friend.  He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  His wife Annette, his family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers this morning.”
