Dreier Welcomes LA Business, Civic Leaders to Capitol, Urges Focus on Job Creation
March 10, 2009

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) and Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Los Angeles, CA) welcomed a delegation of Los Angeles area job creators to the Capitol today for an annual gathering of business and civic leaders. Dreier addressed a gathering of 230 business and civic leaders from across Southern California and discussed with them the importance of creating job opportunities for southern Californians.
“Southern Californians are hurting right now and we need to work together to get our economy back on track,” Dreier said. “Job creation must be our top priority and after today’s discussions, I am confident that it is. The entire nation relies on our infrastructure and innovation to stimulate nationwide job growth. I believe that strategic investments in these areas will yield tremendous benefits from coast to coast. I look forward to continuing to work in a bipartisan way with my California colleagues and local leaders to ensure these investments are made and jobs are created where they’re needed most.”
Participating in this year’s visit were elected officials from five Southern California counties including: Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa; Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard; Riverside County Supervisor John Tavaglione; San Bernardino Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt; and more than a dozen city council members from across the region, as well as leaders from several county transportation agencies. The trip was hosted by a collaboration of nearly 20 Southern California business advocacy organizations, including the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
