Dreier Hosts 5th Annual “Road to Employment” Job Fair Hundreds of Job Seekers Turn Out to Meet Potential Employers

April 2 , 2008

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) hosted the 5th annual “Road to Employment” Job Fair today.  Over 800 job seekers and nearly sixty employers gathered in Rancho Cucamonga to learn about job opportunities and participate in employment workshops.  Dreier’s office teamed with the County of San Bernardino Department of Economic Development and State of California Employment Development Department to put on the annual event.

“Our economy is clearly going through a difficult time, but there are opportunities out there, especially in the Inland Empire,” Dreier said.  “From hospitality to health care, local governments to retail, financial services to delivery services, a wide range of employers was represented today.  In a positive sign, a good crowd of job seekers came out to meet with them.  For those who are hurting in this economic climate, the best prescription is a good job.  It’s my hope that many of today’s participants found some opportunities that will bring them great success.”

Among the companies represented today were FedEx Ground, UPS, Northrop Grumman, Gentex, Home Depot, Sears Home Repair Services, Wells Fargo, Southern Cal Edison, and Time Warner Telecom.  Local governments, like the City of Rancho Cucamonga, and health care facilities, like Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, were also represented.  Participants were invited to meet with potential employers and participate in free workshops on resume writing, effective on-line job searches, dressing for success, and ethics in the workplace.
