Dreier Votes to Support Small Businesses
May 21, 2009
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) voted yesterday to create more opportunities for small businesses to grow and expand. Dreier voted for House passage of H.R. 2352, the Job Creation Through Entrepreneurship Act, which was approved with overwhelming bipartisan support.
“Small businesses are the life-blood of our economy,” Dreier said. “They fuel the engine of economic growth, creating good paying jobs here at home and providing new and innovative products and services for the American people and the rest of world. This bill provides the resources and support needed to help these entrepreneurs expand their businesses, hire more workers and get our economy back on its feet.”
H.R. 2352 establishes new grant programs to help local small firms secure capital and repair damaged credit and assist small businesses to compete for procurement projects. The bill also provides greater support for Veteran, Native American and women-owned companies. In addition, the measure increases accountability by requiring the Small Business Administration to report on the performance of the new programs.
